FROM THE EDITOR'S DESKTOP
April 4, 2003

Isn't this time of the year great? With each new season, I am always reminded of ALL that I have to be thankful for: my God, my family, my country, my beautiful home State of Texas, my hometown Big Lake, my friends, etc.

The Spring Edition has news, reports, requests and reminders of those we grew up with in Big Lake TX. This has been done hurridly as my computer is on the blink and I am borrowing a friend's computer to get the latest out about the greatest little town in Texas.

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1

Addendum from my desktop: Well, times are changing in Big Lake. They now have a new Area Code - 325. When I moved to Florida I had to learn 14 zip codes in the local area and redo my address book 4 times due to area code changes. I said a couple of years ago, that I was going to retire to an area that had never had an area code change and no more than 5 zip codes (knowing in the back of my mind that would be somewhere in West Texas). Guess, now, I will have to expand my area of consideration from no area code changes to one of no more than one area code change. I know that I am an old timer when I think about our first telephone number being 312=W with operators asking "number, please". Or, when I can remember a time of no zip codes or area codes. Oh, well, times do change -- and our challenge is to always be flexible (or not worry when our cheese is moved).
