RECEIVED FROM LINDA SHORT BURNETT - Get ready for our Spring luncheon. Spring is a time for rebirth.
Lets renew acquaintances. 12:30 Saturday, May 5th, Golden Corral in Brownwood. RECEIVED FROM
MARGARET NOSSENT NIXON - As Shirley Miller is occupied with Buddy, I thought I would play reporter in her
place. The Nifty 50's did meet at Zentner's Steak House in San Angelo 4-21-01. We had 25 ex-students &spouses
in attendance. They are as follows:
BIG LAKE: Don and Mary Ann Meroney; Dale & Adelia Calley; Jack & Joleta Harris; Boone & Joyce
Stokes.
MERTZON: Richard Boggs; Ray & Sharon Dorsey; Walter & Mildred Rackley.
PLANO: Shirley Halydier.
EULESS: Wilbur Lancaster
ODESSA: Nancy Chapman
LAKE BUCHANAN: George & Diana Lea Dykes
MIDLAND: Don & Joan Johnson; John & Marinell Glidewell.
SAN ANGELO: Max & Margaret Nixon; and Fay Wood
Our next luncheon is scheduled for May 26, 2001. RECEIVED FROM SHIRLEY SWANZY MILLER - This is the
2nd time I've gotten on the web site. I haven't had a computer very long so I am a slow learner and still don't really
know what I'm doing. Margaret Nixon sent me the info on this. Really glad someone is doing it again. Don't know
if anyone has e-mailed you about Coach Johnny Hickman passing away? He had cancer for several years. Passed
away on Sunday April 22. They had his funeral service at Johnson's Funeral Home in San Angelo on the 25th and
buried him in Bronte. I know there will be a lot of readers who will be interested in knowing this (Ed Note - Our
sympathy to his wife, Virginia, and children, David Mack, Johnny Frank and Gina) Buddy and I always enjoy going
to the Nifty 50's. You never know how many or who will show up. Margaret does a very good job sending out cards,
keeping a scrapbook and picture album. We have a good time "Remembering when." Will stop for now. Keep up
the good work. I forgot to tell you the Old water tower has been torn down. I suppose you get the Wildcat don't
you? There is several pictures in it this week showing the tower on the ground. The new one is much higher.
Thought for April - May, 2001 (taken from the May 26, 1964 Owl's Hoot): A life that counts is one that leaves
the world better (author unknown, but was chosen by Class of 1964 as their motto) Hope everyone has some of
those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer. As I get news, I will do updates. Will be taking some web design
classes this summer in hopes that I can learn more. This has been such a creative outlet for me and I thank all of
you for encouraging me to "keep on keeping on".
